2007/08 MATCH REPORTS

2007/08 Reports:
U’s v Lewes (03/11/07)

Final score: 0-4

In charge for his first game Ernie Howe had brought in a new striker, Alieu Jallow, and a midfielder, Ouzo Opara. The first half saw a competent display from the U's although neither 'keeper was really troubled. The second half started differently as only minutes in Opara contested a header and came off a lot worse for it, the debutant was eventually removed from the field on a stretcher wearing a neck brace. A defensive error from Nicky Greene gifted Lewes their first, Phil Wilson then charged out and was lobbed for their second. Sutton then stemmed the flow for the majority of the rest of the half but two quick fire goals in the dying minutes left a bitter taste in all the U's supporter's mouths.

U’s v Hayes & Yeading United (17/11/07)

Final score: 3-3

More new mid week signings filled the team sheet as Rob Hughes and Craig Dundas joined the U's cause. The first half was very forgettable as it looked like it would be another one of those days. Three up and coasting at half time the home team had just about wrapped up all the points.
But in what truly was a game of two halves the U's switched to 4-4-2 and suddenly looked a different team. Superbly taken goals from Nicky Greene and Craig Dundas put Sutton within touching distance of a longed for point and as the game reached the last minute of injury time a towering Jack Haverson rose majestically in the box to head home the equaliser from a corner.

Team: Phil Wilson, Dean Sammut, Craig Tanner, Ouzo Opara (Rob Hughes), Bryan Glover, Jack Haverson, Paul Honey, Nicky Greene (Liam Wright), Craig Dundas, Warren McBean, Bashiru Alimi (Alieu Jallow). Subs (not used): Zak Graham, Gareth Williams.
